As energy demand and extreme weather threats increase, strengthening the energy grid is more important than ever. Wind, solar and other forms of renewable energy will undoubtedly play increasingly larger roles in the energy transition. But as the country reduces our reliance on coal, there is simply nothing else that can provide the reliability and resiliency of natural gas.
Occasionally, trees can fall into utility lines and pose dangers and power outages, surges, fires and other damage. Downed power lines are especially dangerous. A tree that is at risk of falling into a power line is also dangerous. Although almost every tree will have some sort of defect, the presence of multiple items from the check list can increase the likelihood of vegetation interfering with electrical lines. May 23 update: Due to excessive rain in the forecast this week, Tallgrass Energy, the transmission main line supplier of natural gas for Black Hills Energy’s distribution systems, has made the decision to cancel the maintenance project scheduled for Thursday, May 26, 2022. This decision was made from extreme caution to maintain our focus on safety.
