Volunteer fire departments honored in Nebraska
check

We’re proud to partner with volunteer fire departments across Nebraska to provide safety training and support in various forms. In honor of Fire Prevention Month, the volunteer fire departments in Madison, Nebraska, and Auburn, Nebraska, were each chosen to receive a $1,000 donation to be used toward the purchase of carbon monoxide detectors and department safety equipment. The carbon monoxide detectors, once purchased, will be given out to residents on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Auburn and Madison volunteer fire departments were nominated by our employees in recognition of the cooperation and partnership they offer when responding to calls.

In addition to the $1,000 donations, Black Hills Energy Ambassadors donated water to several other volunteer fire departments to further spread goodwill. Josh Pacas, a Columbus ambassador and service technician, offered a $250 monetary donation to the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department where he serves as a volunteer firefighter as part of the “Ambassador in Action” program.

“We work closely with emergency responders at municipal, county and state levels,” said Don Nordell, operations manager for Black Hills Energy. “Black Hills Energy is honored to have many of our service technicians serve as volunteer firefighters and offering this type of support, in addition to the ongoing safety training we offer to first responders, helps encourage and develop the close ties and teamwork it takes to successfully manage a natural gas incident if one should occur.”

Hats off to all the volunteer firefighters who stand ready to protect our communities.

We partner with our communities and customers, providing the kind of energy that fuels those areas and the lives of those we serve. Feel free to share the stories and photos. Follow us on FacebookInstagram, LinkedInTwitter, YouTube, and Pinterest for more!
