South Dakota future energy professionals are in the house
summer passport series

On June 16, a team from the Rapid City, South Dakota, service center gave a tour of their facility to a group of young adults with the Summer Passport Series, which is hosted by the South Dakota Department of Labor. The goal was to inspire young minds to consider careers in the energy industry and to begin thinking about their future.

Those in attendance were introduced to the energy basics. Afterward, they ventured outside to see the Ben French combustion turbine and a transformer. As the tour progressed, questions began to flow in. Some of our favorites — “Is it scary to go up in a bucket truck?” “How much does one of those things (a utility pole) cost?” and “Have you ever been shocked before?”

We’d like to thank Marc Eyre, Mike Pogany, Cory Albers, Trent Purington and Weston Watson for sharing your energy expertise with our future generation of energy professionals.

We partner with our communities and customers, providing the kind of energy that fuels those areas and the lives of those we serve. Feel free to share the stories and photos. Follow us on FacebookInstagram, LinkedInTwitter, YouTube, and Pinterest for more!
