Our mission is “Improving Life with Energy” – and part of that mission is sharing our personal energy to strengthen our communities.
On a cold and blustery October day, members of the Webster City, Iowa, district volunteered their personal energy to help construct a soccer “mini-pitch” system at East Twin Park in Webster City.
Seven Webster City technicians, the district supervisor, state administrative assistant and community affairs manager worked alongside city officials and employees to assemble the outer perimeter, gates and goals for the mini-pitch.
A mini-pitch is an artificial turf or hard surface with built-in goals. It’s surrounded by a lighted rebound board system that allows the ball to constantly remain in safe play. Mini-pitches provide greater access to soccer and allow children to safely practice and improve their skills outside of organized soccer activities.
Funding for the project, which was led by the Local Initiative for Transportation – WC, Inc. (LIFT-WC), included a $13,000 donation from Black Hills Corp Foundation.
We partner with our communities and customers, providing the kind of energy that fuels those areas and the lives of those we serve. Feel free to share the stories and photos. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn,Twitter, YouTube, and Pinterest for more!
