Burritos for a cause in Nebraska
serving burritos outside

We’ve all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? The team in Sutton, Nebraska, recently combined a love for breakfast burritos with their spirit of giving to host a community fundraiser to benefit the local food pantry, The Bread Box.

Team members donated the ingredients to make 100 breakfast burritos and then offered them to the community for free will donations. Within just an hour and half the volunteers ran out of burritos and raised nearly $600!

Every Saturday, The Bread Box opens its doors for community members to get the food they need for their families and others who are in need but may not be able to get to the food pantry, including the elderly, disabled and mentally ill.

The Bread Box serves all of Clay County and often sees people from neighboring counties. Thanks to wonderful community support, The Bread Box has been able to keep its doors open during hard financial times. Apart from the Saturday services, the organization will also deliver if need be and provides backpacks full of food to the local public school for kids who might not otherwise have food over the weekend.

Ambassador Aly Schmer, an operations support specialist, is currently working with The Bread Box to help provide meals for kids in need over the summer. She is hoping the money raised during the burrito giveaway can go toward funding that project. “The Bread Box does really good work and I am proud of the support I got from my team and our positive presence in the community,” Aly said.

Great job team!
