We're Black Hills Energy

We want to be your natural gas energy partner.

The Ford City Council has voted to approve our offer to purchase and fully operate the city's natural gas distribution system. Now it's your turn. You must vote YES! Monday, Jan 25, to begin enjoying the benefits of Black Hills Energy natural gas service.

What other Kansas communities does Black Hills Energy serve?

We currently serve 115,000 customers in 65 communities in Kansas, with our state headquarters in Lawrence and regional offices in Dodge City, Garden City, Liberal, Goodland and Wichita.

How will Black Hills Energy become involved in our community?

At Black Hills Energy, our employees live and work in the areas we serve, and we prioritize giving back. Our employee team specializes in supporting exisiting businesses while attracting new companies to the region. We're also committed to ensuring local community and nonprofit organizations have the resources they need to keep hometowns thriving.

Why is the Ford City Council considering approval of the sale of its natural gas system to Black Hills Energy?

The Ford City Council is evaluating the ongoing financial commitment required to safely maintain the city-owned gas system, including the increasing costs to account for additional liability insurance, ongoing maintenance, unexpected repairs and a dedicated employee to keep up with complicated state and federal pipeline safety regulations. Drawing on our expertise, range of service options, experience and dedication to prudent management and best practices, Black Hills Energy is the right choice to provide the citizens of Ford with safe, reliable natural gas service.
