South Dakota employees kept busy this summer

From rodeos to golf tournaments, it was a busy summer for our employees in the Black Hills area. We’re not complaining, mind you. There’s nothing more rewarding than getting out into our communities and interacting with customers.

Here’s a peek at a little of the fun we had this summer:

Days of 76 Rodeo: We've been a sponsor of this iconic rodeo for many years. It’s the number one PRCA mid-sized rodeo in the country, and this summer was their 100th anniversary. 

End of Summer Event: Louie made an appearance at the August End of Summer Event in Piedmont, even taking a ride in the bucket truck. 

Lead Chamber of Commerce Golf tournament: The Lead Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in South Dakota, and Black Hills Energy sponsored a hole in this summer’s Chamber of Commerce tourney. Some of the Black Hills Energy employees who participated include Garth Virkula, Ron Wigers, Eric Nelson and Brooklyn Cole. To ramp up the fun, each hole had specific challenges. For instance, Brooklyn drove a marshmallow 20 yards, Garth stuck the green for a par three contest and the group played one hole in almost record time of under four minutes.

Box Elder Expansion Expo: We sponsored this event, a place where officials could gather and celebrate the growth in the community. Presentations were given by officials, developers, state agencies and more, and announcements were made about new businesses opening in the area.
