Nebraska team members give local FFA students a lesson in gas safety
ffa

Centennial Public Schools in Utica, Nebraska, recently held its annual National FFA Organization Farm Safety Day, and we were fortunate to be a part of the event.

Two members of our Nebraska team shared a presentation with 12 groups of students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade. The presentation covered how to recognize natural gas facilities in an agricultural setting and identifying facility warning signals such as marker posts, signs and locate flags.

They stressed that natural gas is extremely safe when it is inside of its pipe at home but could become less safe if it is accidently let out of its pipe. The team members helped students recognize the odor of natural gas and what to do if they ever smelled it.

They closed the demonstration by using the “boom box” and allowing a student to use the LZ-30 to show the concentration of the gas in the box. The ignition of the box was the highlight of the day! Our team has already been invited to present next year and is excited to educate the youth at FFA Farm Safety Day!
