Nebraska highway gets tidied up
cleanup

Our team in Lincoln, Nebraska, celebrated Earth Week by cleaning up the grassy areas along the Homestead Expressway (U.S. Highway 77) near the Lincoln Service Center.

Did you know the Adopt-A-Highway program began in Texas in 1985? Nebraska started its Adopt-A-Highway program in April 1990. Today more than one-fourth of Nebraska’s 10,000 miles of road are included in the program, with about 900 groups – including Black Hills Energy – adopting a section of roadway as their own.

For many years, our Lincoln employees have volunteered to clean up the same section of the Homestead Expressway near the Lincoln Service Center. This year they chose to do their tidying up during Earth Week, which coincided with National Volunteer Week.

We’re proud of the clean-up crews that make traveling the Homestead Expressway more pleasant for everyone!

We partner with our communities and customers, providing the kind of energy that fuels those areas and the lives of those we serve. Feel free to share the stories and photos. Make sure to tag us on FacebookInstagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.
