Nebraska communities receive grants for major projects
grant

When it comes to creating quality of place, no one rolls up their sleeves and comes together to make things happen like rural Midwest communities.

In south central Nebraska, we are seeing that in numerous locations and thanks in part to the Black Hills Corporation Foundation, our Sutton area team was able to come in and help make projects a reality. In Shickley, Nebraska, one of our own team members is the definition of a civil servant. Brock is the village board chairman, former volunteer firefighter, a career National Guardsman, and founder and president of a community revitalization fund. His role in the community fund got the company involved in helping to raise funds for an ADA inclusive playground in one of the city parks.

Recently the local team was on hand to present a check for $10,000 to support those efforts.

In Roseland, the community is just stepping over the finish line to complete the construction of a community center that will allow the town to have a place to celebrate community events, weddings, reunions, and holidays. With a donation from Black Hills Energy, we were able to help them complete the final concrete work needed on the exterior of the building.

Finally, Juniata had gone without the ability to host home baseball games with the use of a scoreboard for their city-owned fields. Their current scoreboards have not been functional for several year. Now, with the help of a $4,500 grant from Black Hills Energy, they will be breaking ground on a new scoreboard so that teams young and old can proudly showcase their skills and winning scores for all to see.

We partner with our communities and customers, providing the kind of energy that fuels those areas and the lives of those we serve. Feel free to share the stories and photos. Make sure to tag us on FacebookInstagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.
