Team in Cozad, Nebraska, collects 52 pounds of supplies for children in CASA
backpack

When a child is removed from a home due to neglect or abuse, they sometimes leave with no personal belongings. Our team in Cozad, Nebraska, wanted to make those difficult situations a bit easier for children by ensuring they have a backpack full of personal items.

Service Specialist Al spearheaded the drive, and the team donated 52 pounds of items that will fill backpacks for CASA of Dawson/Gosper Counties. CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocate, supports court-appointed volunteer advocacy for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

Items donated include pajamas, brush/comb, socks, toiletries, diapers, baby wipes, night-lights, stuffed animals and other items. These donations will be added to other items purchased by a local nonprofit and packed into backpacks for the children.

"Our hope is to give these children a little comfort in a scary, unfamiliar situation," says Al.
