Book drive supports local women in South Dakota
book drive

Our South Dakota Ambassadors lead a new project this year to help employees find a new home for some unwanted items and raise money for a great cause.

Their Spring Clean-Out Book Drive collected used books that were donated to the American Association of University Women in Rapid City (AAUW). This organization will sell the donated books in the fall to raise money for local scholarships provided to girls and women in our community. Employees in Rapid City dropped off their unwanted books, then the ambassadors worked together to sort and deliver them.

TeBy the end of collection week ended, the ambassadors had collected more than 675 books! Then the ambassadors filled the trunks of three fleet vehicles and braved the cold South Dakota wind to deliver roughly 20 boxes of books.

Donna, Vice President of Tax Services and a board member for AAUW, said, “I’m proud to see our employees come together to support this important initiative. Our donations have the potential to raise funds for around two scholarships given to women seeking higher education.”

The Ambassador program gives our employees an opportunity to develop leadership skills and organize local initiatives that benefit their communities.

Thank you to everyone who recycled their old books to this cause and great job South Dakota Ambassadors!

We partner with our communities and customers, providing the kind of energy that fuels those areas and the lives of those we serve. Feel free to share the stories and photos. Make sure to tag us on FacebookInstagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.
