Arkansas students learn life skills
shake

Students in Springdale, Arkansas, learned lessons they will use throughout their lives during the Amazing Shake NWA (Northwest Arkansas) Competition.

Several of our Springdale employees volunteered to help with the May event, which was hosted by the SOAR Afterschool program at the Jones Center for Families in Springdale.

The Amazing Shake is an interactive event that teaches students manners, discipline, respect, and professional conduct. Students learn the nuances of professional human interaction as they are taught skills such as how to give a proper handshake, how to “work a room,” how to give a successful interview and how to remain composed under pressure.

The goal is to prepare students so they will be able to present themselves well for opportunities today and in the future. The Springdale competition was open to students in fourth through eighth grades.

The two-day competition included case-scenario stations that students must pass through while using proper etiquette, composure, and savoir-faire. Top performers at each level advanced to the next level of challenges until there was one champion left.

Congratulations to all the students and thanks to everyone from Black Hills Energy who participated.
