Employees enjoy a Nebraska Day at the Capitol

After a one-year hiatus, Day at the Capitol in Lincoln, Nebraska, returned on March 29.

Approximately 45 of our employees attended the event, spending time with Sen. Tom Brewer, chairman of the Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee. He expressed his appreciation for our employees’ work for our customers, stating that, “I hear only good things. I never hear complaints about Black Hills Energy.”

Sen. Mike Flood, who is also running for U.S. Congress, addressed the group, discussing several major legislative proposals currently under debate. In addition, Black Hills Energy Governmental Affairs Director Jafar spoke about the company’s business strategies, with a focus on current federal policy initiatives.

“Thank you to Jill for organizing a Day at the Capitol for Black Hills employees. It’s a great opportunity to catch up with teammates from around the state or put faces with names for new employees,” said Bridget, manager of business development in Nebraska. “I always find it helpful to learn more about what is going on politically that may affect our business and industry as it enables us to plan accordingly for the future. As an individual, there’s great value in being a more informed voter, and being able to witness the legislative process in action is exciting and important.”

During the Day at the Capitol, Jill, manager of state governmental affairs, was recognized for her 15 years with Black Hills Energy. The day concluded with lunch at the governor’s residence.
