COLORADO - Sept. 9, 2020 - Black Hills Energy has received reports from customers of attempted scam call where the customer is told their electric bill is delinquent and service will be disconnected unless they pay the caller. We urge customers with concerns about identity of someone claiming to represent Black Hills Energy to call us at 1-888-890-5554 to verify employment. Calling law enforcement is also an option.

Additional tips:

1. Don’t give in to a high-pressure call seeking personal information - if someone calls claiming to represent your local utility and they demand immediate payment or personal information, hang up and call the Black Hills Energy.
2. To verify whether an employee was dispatched to your location, call Black Hills Energy at 1-888-890-5554 or go to the website at www.blackhillsenergy.com. 
3. Black Hills Energy employees wear shirts with the Black Hills Energy logo and carry a company issued photo ID. They also drive Black Hills Energy logo vehicles. Our employees will gladly wait outside for you to confirm their identity.
4. Never provide your social security number, credit card numbers or bank account information to anyone during an unsolicited phone call or an unannounced or unscheduled visit to your home or business.
