Each year the town of Montrose, Colorado takes a day to celebrate and support the kids in their community at Youth Appreciation Day.

The festival features free movies, treats, activities, and giveaways, and Black Hills Energy was thrilled to be a part of the fun again this year. Our employees made hula hoops out of ½” pipe as fast as they could to a constant line of enthusiastic kids, using 1,000 feet of pipe to make the toys over the course of the day. The Black Hills Energy booth also gave away pencils, coloring pages, crayons and note pads, as well as otter pops and plastic 811 hard hats.

As always, safety was part of the day, with information about safe digging practices and the dangers of hitting a gas line being shared as well.
