Black Hills Energy temporarily shuts off natural gas service in Fort Laramie to make necessary equipment repairs

FORT LARAMIE, Wy. – November 15, 2020 Black Hills Energy’s natural gas technicians are working to repair an equipment issue in the Town of Fort Laramie. In order to safely make the necessary repairs, the gas system for the town has been completely shut off. Technicians are currently working to resolve the issue, and will then begin the relighting process for customers.

“The process of bringing customers back on to the system requires several steps,”

“The process of bringing customers back on to the system requires several steps,” said Gary Hogan, gas operations manager for Black Hills Energy Wyoming. “We must first make sure all gas meters are off, then purge the system so that it’s ready for the reintroduction of the natural gas supply. Finally, our technicians will need to go door-to-door and relight each customers’ gas appliances.”

It is required that someone over 18 years of age be present during the relighting process. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our technicians will follow all safety guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC). Our technician’s top priority is to safely return our customers to service. If you have questions, please contact Customer Service at: 888-890-5554.
