Black Hills Energy employees in Rapid City slipped on high heels to help raise $27,000 in support of Working Against Violence Incorporated (WAVI).

The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event features men donning red high heels for a mile walk to raise awareness and money for WAVI, a nonprofit organization in Rapid City that assists survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault with temporary emergency shelter, food and supportive services.

South Dakota ambassador, Lindsey, has volunteered for the event for several years and was determined to find some brave Black Hills Energy men to participate. She was successful - Black Hills Energy, a sponsor of the event, took home the Community Heroes award for having the most participants.

Vice president of tax, Donna, also proudly serves on the WAVI board.

We partner with our communities and customers, providing the kind of energy that fuels those areas and the lives of those we serve. Feel free to share the stories and photos. Make sure to tag us on FacebookInstagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.
