Natural Gas Service Restoration Nearly Complete for Black Hills Energy Customers in Mountain Home

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR – Dec. 24, 2022 – Black Hills Energy technicians worked efficiently over the past two days and restored natural gas service to customers in Mountain Home.

As of 2:30 this afternoon, nearly all of the 330 homes and businesses that lost natural gas on Dec. 23 have been restored.

Black Hills Energy technicians were unable to gain entry into approximately 30 customers’ homes or businesses to perform necessary safety checks and restore service. These customers that have not had gas restored should call Black Hills Energy at 888-890-5554 to schedule service to be restored. Someone over 18 years of age is required to be present during the service restoration process.

“As our customers are extremely important to us, we were hopeful we could make swift progress, and our crews were unified in wanting to restore service as safely and quickly as possible,” said Chad Kinsley, vice president of operations in Arkansas.

“We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who assisted us in this effort,” Kinsley continued. “To the City of Mountain Home, Real Life Church for opening a 24-hour warming center, the technicians who traveled to lend a hand, and our customers and community who extended us their patience and support through this process, thank you.”

Please remember the following safety tips:

  • Be alert for leaking natural gas. If you smell natural gas, leave the building or area immediately and tell others to leave, too.
  • After you’re safely away from the area, call 911 and our emergency number at 888-890-5554. Never assume someone else has reported a natural gas leak. Alert your neighbors.
  • Do not turn on lights, ignite a flame, use a cellphone or use anything that might cause a spark, including a flashlight or a generator while inside your home or any building.
  • Never attempt to repair a natural gas leak, and do not attempt to turn natural gas valves on or off.
